Biology is the study of life. Biology plays a crucial role in our everyday lives.
Have you ever wondered how animals and plants communicate? How much your DNA determines the way you look and act? Or maybe would like to know what grasshoppers can teach us about how and why we get fat? Learn all of this and more by enrolling in the School of Biological Sciences, and immerse yourself in the wonders of life.
In First Year Biology we introduce you to modern biology and how biologists carry out scientific investigation. Topics range from genes and DNA, to understanding the human body, to theories of evolution.
There are many reasons why you may want to study biology. It could be an excitement in the growing field of biotechnology, a desire to conserve the environment, a love of animals, or just a curiosity in life itself.
If you haven’t done HSC biology or just want a refresher, we offer Bridging Courses in biology every year before semester one of First Year Biology. Courses last for one week and are for prospective students of all ages and abilities.
The University of Sydney is closed from Monday December 21, 2009 until Monday January 4, 2010.

If you have any last minute questions about courses or admissions or student life, come along to Info Day on Tuesday January 5, 2010 from 9:30am until 4pm. Info Day is your opportunity to explore the campus, attend information lectures and talk to someone face to face about your options.
Most importantly, remember to stay calm and explore all your options. You have many options, and we can help you find the best one for you.
