Plugin Help

Argh! I can't get the Web modules to work!

First of all to quote the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy..... "Don't Panic". Take a deep breath and read on....

Where do I get the Authorware Web Player?

Downloading it from the biology server:

If you have a high speed Internet connection you can download it from our server by clicking on the "Get Player" button below:

SOBSTDU has entered into a distribution agreement with Macromedia to allow the local distribution of the Authorware Shockwave™ Webplayers for Windows and Macintosh operating systems. It is hoped that this will provide you with a faster download time and $0.00 download fee when using the USYD Intranet or modem pool.

Downloading it directly from Macromedia:

You can also directly download the Authorware Player from Macromedia.

If you download the Authorware Player from Macromedia, please ensure that you download the correct installer for the browser you will be using to view these modules. If you are using an alternate browser such as Opera or Mozilla then download the Netscape installer.

Note: Shockwave plugins for Flash and Director are available from the Macromedia site.

After Downloading the Authorware Installer:

After downloading the Authorware installer, follow these instructions to install it:

  1. Quit from your browser.
  2. Find the file you downloaded.
  3. Double click it to run the install.
  4. Read and follow the instructions in the dialog box.
  5. Open your Browser and and go to the computer module you were trying to open before.

Now it should work!

If you meet the minimum computer requirements and have the "Authorware Web Player" plugin installed properly you can run any of the modules that FYB has available. Notice that you also need the appropriate Quick Time plugin installed.

If all else fails e-mail us or see us in Room 519 in the Carslaw Building (F07 on your University map).
